Abstract

The purpose of this study to assess the quality of life related to voiding and sexual functions among 120 postmenopausal women residing in selected areas of Ludhiana Punjab selected by convenience sampling technique. Voiding functions were assessed by using structured questionnaire and sexual functions were assessed by using female sexual distress Scale-R (FSDS-R 2005). Analysis was done by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The detection of study showed that 51.7% postmenopausal women had average quality of life related to voiding functions and 63.30% postmenopausal women had average quality of life related to sexual functions. The mean score of voiding functions was 8.23± 3.77 and the mean score of sexual functions was 25.19 ± 8.34. It was also found that there was a statistically significant association of voiding and sexual functions with selected socio-demographic variables like age, educational status, occupation, socio-economic status, habitat, surgical history. The study reveals that there is a notable association of voiding functions among postmenopausal women with socio-demographic characteristics. All the variables were found to be statistically significant as p<0.05 except some other variables like, dietary habits, fluids intake, medical history were statistically found to be non-significant as p>0.05.

Similarly, the association of sexual functions among postmenopausal women with socio-demographic characteristics was also assessed. In this, all the variables were found to be statistically significant as p<0.05 except other variables like age, dietary habits, fluids intake, medical history were found to be statistically non-significant as p>0.05. This simply infers that lower the mean voiding functions score and mean sexual functions score, better is the quality of life.
