An Exploratory study to assess the knowledge and attitude among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer disease and its Prevention in selected rural area of Ludhiana, Punjab

Abstract


The present study was conducted to assess the knowledge and attitude among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention in selected rural areas of Ludhiana, Punjab. The research project was undertaken by Ms. Harpreet Kaur in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Master of Science in Nursing of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, in 2017. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention; to assess the attitude among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention; to find out the correlation between knowledge and attitude among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention; to find out the relationship of knowledge among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention with selected variables, i.e. age(in years), gender, religion, educational status, type of family, occupational status, family monthly income (in Rupees), source of information and dietary pattern ;to find out the relationship of attitude among senior citizens regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention with selected variables, i.e. age(in years), gender, religion, educational status, type of family, occupational status, family monthly income (in Rupees), source of information and dietary pattern; and to prepare guidelines regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its prevention among senior citizens on the basis of deficit areas.
