CORE COMPETENCIES: SIGNIFICANCE IN NURSING

Abstract


In learning process the Core Competencies are sets of personal, intellectual, social and emotional skills that all students need in order to fallow in depth, lifelong learning process. In nursing profession Core competency play a very important vital function because it helps to delivering effective high quality care along with it carries values and significance towards nursing profession. The current health care setting is facing many consequences that require need for advanced nursing practice and core nursing competencies. Like patient centered care, professionalism, nursing teaching and leadership, system based practice, Health informatics and technology, Communication skills, Teamwork and collaboration, Safety, Quality improvement and Evidence based practice. The core nursing competencies are creating an opportunity for care providers to contribute their skill, knowledge, and motivation to quality patient care and good patient outcome. The nursing profession is strengthen only when our healthcare system and education is work together to upgrade professional competencies in nursing.
