A Quasi Experimental Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Program Regarding Knowledge of Harmful Effects of Mobile Phone among Senior Secondary School Students

Abstract


Background: The rapidly evolving mobile phone has raised public concern regarding the possibility of associated adverse health effects of internet and mobile phones; but it has greatly changed the way people communicate. Mobile phone is a device which was once considered a luxury of affluent people, has now become a necessity with advancement of technology. It is our moral duty as well as responsibility to teach them to make best use of their gadgets; that is why we have chosen this study to aware the secondary school students about the harmful risks of mobile phones. Aim: The main aim of study was to evaluate the impact of mobile phones. Methodology: The convenient sampling technique was used and 60 samples of students were selected from the selected schools of district Tarn-Taran and structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Results And Conclusion: The mean score of control group pre-test was 10.46 and standard deviation was 2.74 and post-test control group mean score was 10.93 and standard deviation was 3.33. The mean score of experimental group pre-test was 10.8 and standard deviation was 3.19 and mean score of post-test experiment group 16.7 and standard deviation was 4.93. It is concluded from the result that there is great effectiveness of structured teaching program to enhance the knowledge of harmful impact of mobile phones among secondary school students.
