Scope of Simulation-Based Skill Training Among Multiple Levels of Neonatal Care Providers

Presthiena Lofi E L

Abstract

Scope of clinical simulation is wide in health science education, since the patient safety and quality of educational training is of primary importance in this field. One of the significant areas to be improved in the health care through quality training and skilled practice is neonatal care. New born are handled at health care setting by multiple levels of health care providers and family members. Hence, they are the most vulnerable population among the health care consumers; simulation-based training should be inculcated as a training method for all levels of care providers like doctors, nurses, other multidisciplinary clinical care providers, community health workers and parents/family members regarding the care of new born. This article reviews the scope of neonatal simulation among the above-mentioned team of new born care providers to enhance their skill and quality of care contributing to the safety and well-being of the new born.
