Abstract


Childhood is a very important period in human life cycle. It requires more care and protection against diseases. Childhood period is also high risk for communicable diseases. Diseases of childhood are preventable by vaccination still it remains a serious problem in developing countries. Immunization is a way to protect the human body against infectious diseases through administration of vaccine. Infectious diseases are major causes of morbidity and mortality in children. One of the most cost effective and easy methods for children survival is immunization.  In 1974, WHO officially launched a global immunization program known as "Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to protect all children of the world against six most common vaccine preventable disease by the year 2000 specifically Tuberculosis, Diptheria, Pertusis, Tetanus, Polio and Measles.
