Compare The Severity Of Menopausal Symptoms, Copingstrategies, And Quality Of Life Among Women Duringvarious Postmenopausal Period

Abstract


The present study was intended to compare the severity of menopausal symptoms, coping strategies and quality of life among women during various post-menopausal period. Assumption was that women in earlier post menopausal period have poor quality of life. The study was based on Pender’s Health promotion model. Descriptive research design was used for the study. The sample consists of 150 menopausal women who were at 6 month, 1 year, 1 ½ year of post-menopausal period. The tool used was structured interview schedule which consists of socio personal data to assess the personal variables and rating scale used to assess the severity of menopausal symptoms, coping strategies, and quality of life among women. The content validity of the tool done by the experts from the respective field and reliability of the tool checked by test retest method. Purposive sampling technique was used in selection of sample. A pilot study was conducted to assess the feasibility of the study from 07/01/2020 to 11/01/2020. Researcher sought permission from Panchayat  President of PinarayiPanchayat and EranholiPanchayat the actual study was conducted among 150 menopausal women from 02/02/2020 to 29/02/2020.  The data analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The study reveals that there was statistically significant difference in severity of menopausal symptoms, coping strategies, quality of life among sample at 6 months, 1 year and 1 ½ years of post-menopausal periods. The findings of the study have implications on nursing practice, education, administration and research.
