Before the emergence of COVID-19, vaccines for infectious diseases typically took several years to develop, and there was no existing vaccine for preventing human coronavirus infections. In this study, an evaluative approach was employed, and the chosen research design was a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The study was conducted through online mode after selecting samples by convenience sampling. The study used google forms. 20 (36.4%) were in the age group of 40–45 years, 32 (58.25%) were male, 17 (30.9%) were daily wagers and 47 (85.5%) were not infected by COVID-19 and television was the major source of information 47 (85.5%). In pre-test it was found that 2 participants (3.6%) had inadequate knowledge, 20 participants (36.4%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 33 participants (60.0%) had adequate knowledge towards COVID-19 vaccination. It was also found that pre-test 54 participants (98.2%) had favourable attitude and 1 participant (1.8%) had unfavourable attitude towards COVID-19 vaccination. The study's findings indicate a notable enhancement in the knowledge and attitude of parents following a well-structured teaching program. Hence STP is an effective, appropriate and feasible mode to develop knowledge and attitude of parents about COVID-19 vaccination.
2023-12-29T07:12:04+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Immunological Nursinghttps://journalspub.info/nursing/index.php?journal=IJIN&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=2387Evaluating the Effectiveness of A Structured Teaching Program on Knowledge About Preventing Iron Deficiency Anemia Among Antenatal Mothers At GIMS Gadag2023-12-29T08:08:02+00:00Sanjiv Haralayyasanjay.haralayya2@gmail.comRaghavendra V.Y.sanjay.haralayya2@gmail.comPooja M. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach, 30 antenatal mothers were purposively sampled. The initial pre-test revealed that 60% had inadequate knowledge, and 40% had moderate knowledge regarding iron deficiency anemia. The mean knowledge score in the pre-test was 9.56, with a standard deviation of 50.72. Following the structured teaching program, the post-test mean score increased to 17.23, with a standard deviation of 91.36. The mean difference was 7.26, and the paired 't' test value was 17.04, indicating significance at the p≤0.05 level, validating the proposed hypothesis (H1). The study found a significant association between knowledge level and the type of family. However, no significant associations were observed between knowledge level and age, religion, education, occupation, residency, family income, gravida, and dietary pattern. In conclusion, the structured teaching program proved highly effective in enhancing the knowledge level of iron deficiency anemia among antenatal mothers. The post-test results showed that 93.33% had adequate knowledge, and 6.66% had moderate knowledge. The average knowledge scores demonstrated a substantial improvement from pre-test to post-test. These findings highlight the positive impact of educational interventions on enhancing awareness and knowledge, emphasizing the significance of such programs in antenatal care settings.
2023-12-29T07:26:15+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Immunological Nursinghttps://journalspub.info/nursing/index.php?journal=IJIN&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=2388Evaluating the Impact of Soybean Consumption on Menopausal Symptoms in Women (45–56 yrs) in Selected Areas of Ranpise Nagar, Sawantwadi, Akola District2023-12-29T08:08:02+00:00J. To assess the menopausal symptoms among women between 45–56 yrs in selected community area, ranpise nagar sawantwadi, akola dist. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of soya bean consumption amoung women between 45–56 yrs in selected community area, ranpise nagar, sawantwadi, akola dist. 3. To find the association between pre-test menopausal symptoms and effect of soyabean consumption amoung womens in selected community area, Ranpise Nagar Akola Dist. Kenny’s Open System Model: The study is grounded in Kenny's Open System Model, which posits that all living systems are open, involving ongoing exchanges of matter, energy, and information. Research Approach: Experimental research is typically employed when the main aim is to assess how well a specific procedure aligns with its intended outcome. Research Design: Taking into account the factors mentioned above and the time available for data collection, this study employed a quasi-experimental design. Variables Under the Study: It represents a characteristic of an individual or object that can assume different values, including the Independent variable, Dependent variable, and Extraneous variable. Research Setting: The study was conducted in rapise nagar community, Akola This village is situated at a distance of 8 kms from Samarth Nursing College of nursing, Akola. Population Target Population: In this investigation, the focus group consists of women aged 45–56 who are experiencing menopausal symptoms within the same age range. Accessible population In this study, the accessible population comprises of women between 45–56 years with menopausal symptoms in ranpise nagar, Akola community, Akola. Sample size for the present study was 40 women with menopausal symptoms between 45–56 years. & convenient sampling technique. Sampling Criteria; Inclusion Criteria who are having menopausal symptoms between the ages 45–56 yrs from a selected. Exclusion Criteria: data collection who are on only hormonal treatment. Description of the Tool; Demographic variable Performa & Menopausal Rating Scale (Heinemann 2003). Reliability The score ‘r’ was found to be 0.89 which showed highly positive correlation. The data collection was done for 6 weeks. The acquired data was examined through descriptive and inferential statistical methods to fulfill the study's objectives. Results:Most of the subjects in control group (55%) and experimental group (75%) had age of menarche between 11–15 years. The observed distinction was highly significant at the 0.05 level and can be attributed to the efficacy of consuming soybeans. Consequently, the null hypothesis Ho1 is rejected. In the Experimental group, the post-test menopausal symptom scores exhibited a low mean and standard deviation. There was a noteworthy correlation between dietary patterns and post-test menopausal symptoms in the Experimental group. Nevertheless, this difference did not achieve statistical significance at the 0.05 level. Recommendation: An investigation could be undertaken to assess the comparative efficacy of soy-based interventions versus hormonal replacement therapy in menopausal women.
2023-12-29T07:37:21+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Immunological Nursinghttps://journalspub.info/nursing/index.php?journal=IJIN&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=2389Effectiveness of Acupressure on Quantity of Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) Among Preterm Mothers Admitted to the Postnatal and Kangaroo Mother Care Wards of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal2023-12-29T08:08:02+00:00Roshani .roshani.stella@gmail.comSonia R.B. D’Souzaroshani.stella@gmail.comShobha .roshani.stella@gmail.com
Objective: To assess the impact of acupressure on the volume of breast milk expression. Design: A design involving a quasi-experimental approach with a post-test-only control group. Setting: Postnatal and kangaroo mother care wards of Kasturba Hospital Manipal. Participants: 42 preterm mothers delivered between 30–34 weeks of gestation who were expressing breast milk for their neonates. Intervention: The study had two groups, experimental and control group. The first 21 preterm mothers were recruited to experimental group and next 21 to control group by purposive sampling. The experimental group mothers were given acupressure treatment for 12 minutes twice daily for one week. The acupressure points selected were Neiguan (P6), Quichi (LI-11) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) on either side. Both the groups were asked to measure the quantity of expressed breast milk for 24 hours using a calibrated conical measure for seven days and recorded on a tool developed by the researcher. Measurements: The data underwent analysis through variance analysis. (ANOVA) Results: Repeated measure analysis of varience (RM-ANOVA) was computed to check whether quantity of expressed breast milk was better over time of therapy (7 days) within the group. The data violated the assumption of sphericity so, Greenhouse Geisser correction was applied which showed a significance difference in the mean expressed breast milk volume for both the groups over a period of 7 days [F (1.942, 40) = 6.721, p =0.002]. Mixed ANOVA was done to test the difference between the groups [F = 0.134, df=1, 40; p =0.716]. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean volume of expressed breast milk between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: This research study infers that Accupressure had no effect on improving the quantity of expressed breast milk. Additional research with larger sample sizes is necessary to assess the efficacy of acupressure. Implication for practice: A frequent reason reported for the early discontinuation or reduced exclusivity of breastfeeding among women who have started is inadequate milk supply. If nurses in NICU and postnatal wards are trained in acupressure and if given for a longer duration it may be useful as a cost effective and noninvasive modality of care. There are no studies which prove that acupressure can improve lactation. So there is a great need for further research in this direction for the management of lactation problems.
2023-12-29T07:46:46+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Immunological Nursinghttps://journalspub.info/nursing/index.php?journal=IJIN&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=2390A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of An Educational Session on Knowledge Regarding Braden Scale as A Standard Tool to Assess the Risk of Pressure Sore in Bedridden Patient Among Nursing Students2023-12-29T08:08:02+00:00Sagaya Arockia Mary A.dianasra@gmail.comMagdeline .dianasra@gmail.comAnasuya .dianasra@gmail.comPrincy .dianasra@gmail.comRani .dianasra@gmail.comSeona .dianasra@gmail.com
Pressure sores represent a troublesome and frequently incapacitating condition that impacts individuals who are bedridden, frail, weakened, and malnourished.
