Decomposition Temperature-Dependent Preparation of TiO2 Thin Films by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis

Balaji Y. Fugare, Yogita M. Uplane, Balkrishna J. Lokhande

Abstract

TiO2 thin films were deposited on stainless steel by using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis using 0.04 M partially aqueous solution of potassium titanium oxalate at different decomposition temperatures 573–723 K by the interval of 50 K. Tetragonal crystalline structure and rutile phase formation were confirmed using X-ray diffraction technique, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopic analysis confirms the formation of pristine TiO2. SEM and TEM images of the deposited sample show porous, transparent and randomly distributed nanorods/nanoplates like morphology. Contact angle and thickness of the samples decrease with the increase in decomposition temperature
