Hydraulic Flushing Flux Enhancement Techniques in Membrane Separation Processes: A mini Review

Jigesh P Mehta

Abstract

Looking into current scenario of the wastewater generated from the allied industries which leads researcher and industry persons to reclaim the water to certain extent. Conventional methods removes the pollutants and toxics to maximum level but quality of water is the must requirement for the industries to work efficiently. Membrane separation processes play vital role in rectifying the conventional method by replacing them to some extent or by hybrid mixture. This mini article is the overview of flushing techniques(back flushing) in membrane separation processes (NF,MF,UF,RO) which can be applied to mitigate the fouling phenomena and recover the maximum permeate flux at lower operating parameters and conditions. This article is breakthrough short description of flushing technique (some systems) along with factors affecting it and preventative measures to be taken.
