Composite Materials-A Short Review

Saksham kharbanda

Abstract

The study on composite materials is truly multidisciplinary one. Researchers working in this field are of departments such as metallurgy, material science, chemistry, solid mechanics, and fracture and have made important contributions to the same. Composites can be created to meet specific geometrical, structural, mechanical, chemical, and even aesthetic requirements, depending on the intended application. Construction, such as in buildings and bridges, the automotive sector, aeronautics, naval (e.g., ships and boats), and biological fields are all areas where synthetic materials can be used. This review is based on the objective to obtain an understanding of composite material properties and how they are affected by the morphology and structure. The readers would be getting a better insight of why composite materials are considered superior to the conventional metals in some domains and role of different constituents present in the composites.
