Effects of Geopositioning on Modern Computing

Nishtha Bhargave, Arindam Banarjee

Abstract

This research paper will give an explanation on what Geopositioning is, how it is implemented in modern devices like smartphones, tablets, etc. How it is affecting the daily lives of virtually every living person connected to the World Wide Web (WWW) network in one form or another. Alongside that we also look at what modern geopositional system are, how they are made available and where they are used. This method of integration of geopositioning technologies, such as GPS and GIS, with modern computing devices has led to a wide range of applications that functions on real time location, navigation, advertising, emergency response, marine studies, environmental monitoring, etc.

The effects of geopositioning on modern computing are significant and far-reaching. These technologies have transformed the way we interact with the world around us and now it provides us with information as and when required in an accurate manner while also enabling new types of applications. At the same time it is also creating new challenges related to privacy and security of the people using these technologies, like collection and use of real time location based data can be done for malicious purposes.

Despite these challenges, the benefits of geopositioning in modern computing are clear, and very impactful for the society. These advantages will continue to grow as innovative and new technologies and applications emerge. As such, it is necessary for all researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to work together to make certain that these technologies are developed and used in a responsible and ethical manner, in order to reach their potential for positive impact while reducing their risks and drawbacks.
