Abstract

ABSTRACT

With the development of internet, piracy has become a big issue for developers. The hard work of developers is copied and distributed freely on the internet. To stop this piracy, watermarking techniques can be used. In audio watermarking, a watermark logo is embedded inside an audio signal and it is made sure that this logo must be inaudible. In this way, audio can be distributed, and a piracy can be found by using watermarking extraction algorithm. EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) is very famous technique which can be used for watermarking. EMD converts the audio signal into multiple parts called IMFs (Intrinsic Mode Function) and the logo can be hidinginside the last IMF. Another technique QIM is used with EMD for modulation of the audio signal. EMD with QIM (Quantization Index Modulation)is found very effective for watermarking. In this paper, the complete EMD and QIM techniques are discussed with the performance parameters to find the quality of watermarking.

Keywords: audio watermarking, EMD (empirical mode decomposition), IMF (intrinsic mode function), QIM (quantization index modulation), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
