Ashmeet Sahni, Shikha Singh

Abstract

Various banks of India have started using biometric ATM machines that are ATMS, as it has proven to be a better way of reducing the use of cards and is proving to be a channel for various banks to enlarge their reach to the rural and illiterate people. Union Bank of India started this by installing their first such ATM popularly known as “KISAN ATM” located at Siyasanga Branch at Tamil Nadu. Dena Bank took it forward by launching its biometric ATMS in Gujarat. Andhra bank has recently launched mobile accessed biometric ATMs, for both Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Further Corporation Bank has also launched “taking” biometric ATMs. The special characteristic of this ATM is that it can interact with farmers in their own native language.
