Planning, Estimation, Costing, and Scheduling of Commercial Building using MS Project

Abstract

Planning, estimation, and scheduling are very important in a construction project and it helps to
avoid delays in the project. The current project deals with planning, costing, estimation, and
scheduling of office buildings. It is a G+5 reinforced concrete framed structure with modern features.
The emergency exit and slope have been provided at the opening of the building for hassle-free
movement of disabled people. The building is planned in accordance with the National Building Code
of India 2016. The plan area of the building is 745.22 m2 and the plot area is 3100 m2. FSI is taken as
1.5. The plot is situated in Kharghar. Generally, soil strata in Kharghar is found to be hard. The safe
bearing capacity (SBC) of soil is 300 KN/m2. The office building is provided with proper ventilation
as per the code. Ceiling height is taken as 3 m high from the floor. Microsoft Project Professional
2013 is used for scheduling. MS project helps in tracking down the project and works effectively. MS
project is flexible enough for other purposes such as road mapping tools or financial management.
MS project provides a detailed report on the network diagram, timeline, tracking, cost overruns, cash
overview, cash flow, critical tasks, and late tasks.
