Effect of Localization of 2-Naphthyl-2-cyanoethylether on Fluorescence Quenching in Micellar Medium

Pradipta Kumar Behera, D. Sahu

Abstract

Fluorescence quenching of 2-naphthyl-2-cyanoethylether (2-ROEtCN) by Cu2+ in anionic, cationic and non-ionic micelles were investigated using steady state fluorescence spectrophotometer. In cationic and non-ionic micelle, the quenching is purely dynamic whereas as in anionic micelle it is dynamic within a limiting concentration of quencher. The localization of probe and quencher in micelle as well as the charge of the micellar interface plays an important role on the nature and extent of quenching.
