Review: In India, a Triple Mutation in SARS-CoV-2 was Discovered in the Second Wave of COVID-19

Abstract

Researchers sequenced the viral genome from samples collected in Maharashtra and Bengal and discovered a rare combination of three mutations, implying that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is constantly evolving to elude the human immune system. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the world, the extreme acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is evolving to evade our immune systems. At the end of 2020, several new strains from the UK, South Africa, and Brazil were reported as variants of concern, all of which tend to be more contagious than the original strain.
