Enhancing thermal comfort of low cost housing for composite climate in india: analytical study

Akshay Sanyal, Jashojeet Chakraborty, Aditya Sanyal

Abstract

In the past few decades, humankind has experienced a progressive change from an industrial age to the modern era. This change of technology has its influence on individual human's life. These developments are not proving uniform for all the sections of society. So it has broadened the gap between the economic groups of the society. Economically weaker group of society has been impacted most because of their lack of resources. One of the major problems before them is the built environment. This paper focuses on making a better-built environment for economically weaker sections; by working on the locally available building material, passive solar & ventilation design technology, and the cost factor as the benchmark for comparison. This study focuses on examining basic building materials, construction methods, and Indian people's livelihood activities. The cost comparison, affordability, and adaptability of these products are used to make recommendations. This research is helpful to sustainable architects when designing low-cost housing projects.
