Development of Job Roles for Construction Workers working with Fly Ash Products
Abstract
A grey material generated as a bi-product in coal based thermal power plants, known as Fly Ash. Fly Ash is recognized as an environmental pollutant. Considerable researches are been undertaken to utilize it in various forms to reduce its adverse impacts on the environment. The construction industry is one of the leading industry that shows tremendous potential of soaking a large amount of Fly Ash. The construction industry consumes Fly Ash based products in different ways and forms based on its property like in Cement, Bricks, Tiles and Soil stabilization. However, the stakeholders in the construction industry are not confident about using Fly Ash based products in construction projects due to unavailability of codes and standards of best practices for using Fly Ash based products. This research focuses on developing Job roles for construction workers, working with Fly Ash products in the construction industry. The quality of the construction depends on the ability of the workers to perform construction activities as per standards. There is a need for developing Job roles for Fly Ash based construction. There is limited or no research available on developing any job role for construction workers to improve the quality of construction of Fly Ash based products.
