With the increase in energy consumption of HVAC and increase carbon footprint there is critical need for the incorporation of passive cooling techniques inside the building to reduce the carbon footprint due to the HVAC.
Energy consumption by fans, air conditioners can be reduced by integrating the solar chimney in the building. This is passive solar heating and cooling system which helps to attain the energy efficiency in a building just like solar
wall or trombe wall. For the maximum efficiency it is important to understand the working of solar chimney along with the other parameters which affect the performance of solar chimneys. In this paper the efficiency of Solar
Chimney efficiency is studied with respect to various parameters like Height of the Chimney, Air gap and width ratio, and Angle of inclination. The effect of solar radiation on the ventilation velocity and along with this energy simulation of a case study is also considered to know about the saving in energy consumption by using Solar Chimney in comparison with the HVAC. Another case which is studied is of the house having an area of 220 sqm with the solar chimney on the west side of the wall and a VRF system. Its ventilation energy consumption and total energy consumption is compared with the same size of the house but without a solar chimney throughout different seasons. It is observed that total energy saving of the case study with Solar Chimney and VRF is about 9% of the
total HVAC consumption and the least energy consumption with Solar Chimney is in winter season giving a total saving of 99.8% when compared with the non-solar chimney house.
Sumedha DuaDeepanshu Kochar

2022-09-052022-09-055219Importance of Artificial Lighting in Architectural Design
https://journalspub.info/architecture/index.php?journal=ijadm&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=943

We, Humans see or make things visible through light, which is a form of radiation, and it can be natural or artificial.
Lighting plays a vital role in architecture. Architects are often
challenged to create spaces that utilize both light and shade
and natural light is sometimes insufficient, so extra light
sources have to be installed and controlled. besides this, the
artificial lighting is an important aspect of the design process. It not
only enhances the design but also helps to change our vision about
the areas or spaces of the building. However, light is important in
more than just a decorative sense, to support it; Within the
framework of communication and psychology, the study studied
the evolution of various functions of artificial lighting in
architectural design. This study reveals that Lighting is as
important as any other design element for environmental
beautification, spatial depiction, productivity levels of worker etc.
Good lighting transforms a space as the design of artificial lighting
is not only related to the technical aspects, but also to the particular
tastes and concepts proposed by interior designers, architects and
by the suggestions of the clients.in conclusion it can be says that,
with the passes of time evolution in artificial lighting is beyond the
limits as such it not only required for illuminating the spaces but
also for the comfort , improving the mood of habitant, enhancing
the design etc. therefore, the study on artificial lighting and its
planning should be introduced in early stage of the design
development , it will help to avoid the unnecessary wastage of
money, material and time.
Jaswinder Kaur

2022-09-052022-09-05521821Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic: An Architectural View
https://journalspub.info/architecture/index.php?journal=ijadm&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=944

History has witnessed that pandemics shape the human mindset, working ability, social and economic constraints, management strategies, environment, cities, and its planning as well. The study concentrates to provide an overview of COVID-19 by reviewing previous research and literature
available on sixteen different countries; along with their hotel architecture, which played a crucial role by offering shelters to infected populations. The study aims to explore the situation of COVID-19 in a global context, by studying 16 different countries on hotels, design parameters, and urban planning in order to prepare the industry for the future for such pandemics/disasters; , with a glimpse of the effect on basic amenities. Additionally, the study made to work on finding every possible aspect (guidelines, measures, strategies, and planning standards) during and post-pandemic with hotels, architecture, and urban planning.
Trapti Gupta

https://journalspub.info/architecture/index.php?journal=ijadm&page=article&op=view&path%5B%5D=946

In today's competitive market, completing a job in the shortest amount of time is critical. Current project management approaches are unrealistic and inadequate in terms of scheduling, monitoring, and failure to manage uncertainty, resulting in a lack of project control and failure to meet deadlines. Non-availability of resources at the appropriate moment, multi-tasking by workers, uncertainty, and ineffective project planning are all key contributors to delays. Constraints have an impact on project success and complicate project management. These can escalate into disagreements and disputes, resulting in direct and indirect costs for clients and contractors. It is critical to identify potential constraints in the building project, as this will aid in reducing excessive waste and loss of both money and time due to poor planning. Critical Path Strategy (CPM) is a conventional method utilised around the world that results in poor scheduling. Task estimations in CPM are based on guessing, which results in a longer project completion time. In addition, the scheduler does not take resource availability into account while creating optimal schedules. Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM), a new project management methodology, was created to address the drawbacks of CPM. The ideal scheduling strategy for a construction project is determined in this research by scheduling a real-time project using both standard CPM and developing CCPM methods. The purpose of this inquiry is to present a more accurate picture of critical chain project management (CCPM) framework for the successful implementation of construction projects. Obstructions such project difficulty, resource scarcity, and duration unpredictability are overcome using the construction scheduling technique (CCPM). To ensure good schedule management, buffer sizing and multiple resource levelling are essential. By incorporating the numerous uncertainties that affect construction scheduling, the suggested framework enhances buffer sizing. According to the outcomes of a real-time case study of a construction project in India, the suggested strategy surpassed existing buffer design approaches by producing buffers with realistic sizes and adequate robustness.
Neha KumariAparna Ash kanojia
