Abstract

Water distribution system is a simple and complex network of water supply components and a crucial unit in every urban as well as rural area. The most important priority is the primary task for water utilities to deliver water of the required quality and quantity to individual customers/consumers under sufficient pressure. But this system of engineered hydrologic as well as hydraulic components is subjected to faults in the form of loss of water, amongst which the most important losses being leakages. In this project, hydraulic modeling of the water distribution system of the existing survey area is carried out. Also, there are leakages in the supply water system are identified and the effects of loss of water on the system pressure is studied. EPANET software is a water distribution system modeling software which is used for various different types of application in distribution system analysis. In order to ensure the availability of good quality of water and sufficient water to the various section of community in accordance with the demand and population. Many software for computer were developed, out of all the software available, EPANET become the most popular and convenient for the effective analysis and design of complex pipe networks. This project will mainly highlight on the effective design and distribution of network of pipes using EPANET tool. The pipe head at each and every node was found out by using elevation as input and therefore the corresponding flow quantities were derived likewise residual head, velocity and nodal demand etc.
