RECONNECTING THE CITY WITH RIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Rivers have been identified as one of the most important factors for all Living beings to dwell and depend upon. Many urban cities are located near the river which inherits its cultural value and its significance. But nowadays the rivers are getting polluted due to the Urbanization and the people usage towards the river are changing accordingly. This results in the gap between the people and the river and losing their connection with the river. Hence, by addressing this issue and reconnecting the city and People to its river the research has been focused on the ideas for giving sustainable riverfront development. The paper aims to identify and analyze the parameters and principles for making sustainable and ecological Riverfront development and to prevent further degradation and make the water body an integral part of the society by proposing design strategies and guidelines taking into account the needs of Sustainable development.
