ASSESSMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS OF LEAN TECHNIQUES IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY- A PROJECT WITH DELAY

Kamala Charanya T.S, Luke Judson

Abstract

Construction management and usage of management techniques and tools to cater the needs of the shareholders to complete the project in a given time, cost and quality are the important factors in project management. But although some techniques and tools to manage the projects are used, there are delays in construction project even now. Lean construction helps in meeting the requirements of the stakeholders within the given time, cost and better quality leading to minimization of construction waste and maximizing the profit to the client and also helps in reducing the variability between the performance of contractors and sub- contractors, improving the reliability of labour flow for better productivity as lean principles. This report summarizes the assessment of effectiveness of lean techniques for a project with delay. The lean tools are applied on a project with delay and recommendations for the use of lean tools
to reduce the delay in a project are provided.
